History Walk - Take a stroll around the Dowling grounds and read about the history of Dowling

Auditorium - The auditorium was built in 1961 and dedicated to Dowling’s longtime Principal, Gladys McAlister. Many memorable school performances and events have been held in this space!
Cafeteria - In 2013/14, the cafeteria was renovated to add expanded kitchen space and salad bar. The stunning mural was created by a former Dowling parent and surrounded by tiles made by students.
Art Room (127) - Stop by the Art Room and see the space where students create masterpieces using a variety of materials. You can also view student artwork as you walk the Dowling hallways.
Ramps Playground -This playground was originally built in 1977 to allow for more playground access to students with disabilities. It was later renovated in 2015 to add additional inclusive and multisensory features for students to experience together.
DCD classroom (134) - This is one of three classrooms for our students with developmental and cognitive disabilities. Various pieces of adaptive equipment and teaching materials can be found in this welcoming space.
Media Center - In the Media Center Library, you can view a variety of artifacts from the past 100 years as well as photos, news clippings, and yearbooks.
Health Office - Stop in the Health Office to see a mixture of old and new, including one of the original antique beds still used daily by Dowling students.
Kindergarten classroom - Check out the beautiful architecture in one of our kindergarten learning spaces!
Pool - The Dowling therapeutic pool originally opened in 1936 (with a visit from FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt). It was renovated in 2010 and continues to be used by Dowling students and community members. This is the only elementary school pool in Minneapolis Public Schools.
Gym - The Dowling gymnasium was added in 1993 and is a busy place these days! It’s used by students, afterschool programs, Community Education, and recently as a staff pickleball court!
Green House/Agriculture Building - Head outside to the Ag Building to see where students learn about planting, the environment, and outdoor exploration.
