From the Front Office

The Record Keeping day for teachers to enter Quarter 4 grades is June 9th. Student report cards will be posted on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal on June 11th. Please note that the Dowling main office will be staffed intermittently the week of June 9 - June 13, and closed until summer programming at Dowling begins June 23. Please contact the office with any questions regarding the Parent Portal before June 13th!

Summer Communication

Information about open house, classroom assignments, and other Dowling updates will be sent mid August. School supply lists will be posted on the school website in July. 

Devices

Reminder: devices are being sent home with students for the summer. If your student is not returning to MPS in the fall and not attending summer school, please remind them to return their device with the charger to their teacher on Friday instead of bringing it home. Some students have reported that they have lost their chargers. Please look through your home to see if you can locate the charger. If you cannot locate it, please consider replacing it by purchasing at a local store or online. A charger costs approximately $10-$15.

Download the MyRide app and use the “save your seat” form to request transportation for next school year. Overdue/Lost Library Books

If your child still has library books out, please return them, replace with another book of equal value, or pay the replacement cost as soon as possible.  This will help us maintain the library and allow your student to check out books again next school year.  

Summer Reading

Students can access summer reading fun through my Clever page all summer long.  Passwords needed for home use are also on my Clever page, along with a video tutorial explaining how to access eBooks through MackinVia.  Check out the list of Summer Reading Resources here!  

From the PTO

Thank you!!

We are wrapping up a year that was filled with fun and meaningful activities. The PTO was able to put on events and support our wonderful teachers and staff all made possible by volunteers and generous financial donations from the community. We said it many times this year but we mean it - we are so grateful! 

2025-2026 PTO Leadership Updates

We have volunteers interested in co-chair, treasurer and secretary roles. Based on feedback from Dowling community members and discussion at our last meeting we are moving forward with a plan to add at-large board members in the coming school year. The at-large position will be a one year commitment and the opportunity to hold a two year board position as co-chair, treasurer or secretary would still be possible after serving in an at-large role. This is a great opportunity to get involved with the PTO board without committing to 2 years. We are part of an amazing school community and have a PTO that will benefit from more people involved!  Email board@dowlingpto.org to inquire or express interest. 

Currently board members are taking on the task of editing and updating the PTO bylaws. The goal of this update is to include addition of at-large board members, modernize language and clarify procedures of the PTO. The plan is to post these bylaws so they can be reviewed by the Dowling community and then ideally passed at the beginning of the coming school year. 

Seeking Volunteers to host Kindergarten Meet Ups

The past couple years Dowling families have hosted informal park meet ups to welcome Kindergarten families and offer a chance for students and caregivers to get to know each other prior to the year starting. You can pick the park, date and time if you volunteer to do this. Communicating information about the meet up to incoming families will be done by PTO via Membership Toolkit and social media. Email board@dowlingpto.org to inquire or express interest.

Campout is a very special event that comes up quickly at the start of the school year. For this reason, we would love to gather volunteers who are interested in planning this event as early as possible. Email board@dowlingpto.org if you are interested.
