Guided Language Acquisition Design

The core of the Project GLAD model consists of integrating 35 instructional strategies within the components of reading, writing, science, and social studies.   Project GLAD develops metacognition, use of high level academic language and literacy for all learners. The classrooms become language rich, language functional settings that are alive with words, aloud with language, and result in academic language rich learning.  Dowling has adopted the GLAD personal standards of: Show Respect, Make Good Decisions, and Solve Problems when teaching students about character development.
