Hi! My name is Maddy Clare and I will be your 5th grade teacher this year! This is my first year at Dowling and my third year in Minneapolis Public Schools. Last year I taught 4th grade at Keewaydin Elementary.
I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, right across the Mississippi River from our school.
In my free time, I love playing softball, listening to music, reading, going on walks, and watching movies.
I’m very excited to be part of the Dowling community and I look forward to working with your students!
I have been teaching in Minneapolis public schools for 12 years. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Teacher program in 2008 and completed my Masters’s degree in Education in 2012. In my own teaching, I work to create a calm and hardworking classroom. I do this by having a calm presence and spending time teaching the students what it means to work hard and how to work with others. Every year, my students and I meditated each day. Meditation is a strategy that travels with the students long after they have left my classroom. My classroom expectations are enforced with a growth mindset, each day students begin again.
