Communication
Minneapolis Public Schools and Dowling Elementary use a variety of tools to communicate with caregivers. Please make sure that we have the most up-to-date contact information for your family. Updates to caregiver contact information must be made in Infinite Campus, the database system used by MPS, to update other MPS communication systems. Please contact the main office with new phone numbers, email addresses, or mailing addresses.
Communication from Dowling
Your student will be given a blue folder when they arrive to school in the fall. This folder is used to send home important information about events, classroom activities, and school work. Most teachers send this folder home on Wednesdays; however, Kindergarten typically send it home daily. Please make sure you are checking this folder regularly! Many teachers send classroom newsletters via email.
Dowling sends out a school newsletter by email every two weeks. This newsletter is also published in the News section of the school website: dowling.mpschools.org/about/news (it also appears on the home page). Please watch for this newsletter, it contains important school information.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal
Through the Infinite Campus parent portal, you can view your students' quarterly grades, attendance, classroom assignments and schedules, and messages. If you have not set up an account and need an activation code, please reach out to the main office. Please be aware that not all functions in the parent portal apply to elementary students, so will appear empty.

SchoolMessenger
MPS and Dowling use School Messenger to send emails, text messages and robocalls to families. You can set up an account to view messages sent to you and update your communication preferences.
Visit the MPS Marketing & Communication page and click School Messenger for more information: www.mpschools.org/departments/communications-marketing
TalkingPoints
Talking points is a texting app used by teachers, staff, and families. It automatically translates messages from English to families' home languages. Families can use standard text messages or the talking points app to respond to messages from teachers.
