School-Based Mental Health Service – Watercourse Counseling
Dowling is very pleased to have an MPS partnership with Watercourse Counseling. School-based services provide greater access to students/families who may not have other options available. Watercourse is an independent agency that provides mental health services to children, available right here in school. Families who participate in services would utilize their own health insurance to do so, just like at a health clinic or other outside agency. If the family is un-insured, Watercourse will work with them to ensure access.
We currently have a half-time therapist at Dowling who is available to work with up to 10 students. We work with families and teachers to determine if this is an appropriate fit for students. Due to the limited caseload available, we do try to prioritize referring students who would not otherwise have access to these important services. We can also keep a waitlist for interest beyond the caseload capacity.
Please reach out to Marisa our school social worker if you would like more information.
